The Military Firefighter Heritage Foundation has had a vision to create a memorial for fallen firefighters. Many concepts were created and this is one of the concept drawings of what the memorial was supposed to be. The ideas have changed since this drawing, and though the final memorial may not look exactly like this concept drawing, it will be a very important memorial to the firefighters that have give the ultimate sacrifice for others.

The first phaze of the memorial was a simple flag with a plaque. The plaque was a dedication reading as follows:
This flagpole and flag are dedicated in memory of those US military firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their Nation.

The next addition was a concrete pad surrounding the flagpole and a walkway going from the troop walk to the flagpole. All this with a few shrubs added for landscaping purposes. This was also an area to begin the bricks that the Military Firefighter Heritage Foundation sells to raise funds and memorialize supporters of our ideals and cause.

Currently, construction is going on to enhance the memorial. A new walkway and landscaping are being added. Flagpoles for service flags are also being added to demonstrate support for all the services. |

The next step for the Fallen Firefighter Memorial was adding the flags. Flags were added for each DoD service (Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard), for the Military Firefighter Heritage Foundation, and the DoD Fire and Emergency Services Maltese Cross.

This area was added to the site where the American Flag is located in the center of the Troop Walk. It will later be enhanced with two concrete areas that will be outlined in bricks purchased by organizations and individuals to support the Military Firefighter Heritage Foundation. |

Recently, the concrete pads were started. These pads will, when finished, be encircled by the bricks purchased by individuals and organizations to support the Military Firefighter Heritage Foundation.
When the pads are completed, they will be finished off with the bricks around the outside and a maltese cross cut into and stained into the middle of the concrete.

After a lot of work and a long time coming, the Fallen Firefighter Memorial construction has finished. The concrete pad which is the latest addition sits on the troop walk running from the DoD Fire Academy to the main portion of Goodfellow Air Force Base. This troop walk is the path that all new firefighters in the Department of Defense walk at least once after they come into the fire service. This memorial is to remember all the military fire fighters that have fallen in the line of duty.

Also added during the construction was a walkway from the road and new parking spots on the road to accommodate visitors. Lining the walkway are more bricks purchased by individuals and organizations |
